Calculator Universe — India-specific calculators that run on your device
Calculator Universe is a free suite from Smart AI Labs for the money questions people in India actually ask: what is this EMI, which tax regime is cheaper, what might a SIP become, what is take-home from this CTC. The interactive app is the panel above. This HTML is the catalog and the method — formulas, assumptions, and links — so a reader (and a crawler) can see the same publisher content without waiting for the app to boot.
There is no account. Amounts you type are not uploaded. Advertising funds the free web app; see the Privacy Policy. A longer written guide is also on the lab site: smartailabs.in/calculator-universe.
How a calculation is meant to be used
- Open a tool from search, a hub, or a link below — copy numbers from a salary slip, sanction letter or statement, not a round marketing figure.
- Read the headline result and the breakdown (interest vs principal, tax by slab, corpus vs invested).
- Change one input at a time so you can see what actually moves the answer.
- Confirm slabs, notified rates and product terms with the official source before you sign or file.
Mutual funds and investments
Monthly SIP projections use the future-value of an annuity: FV = P × [((1 + i)n − 1) / i] × (1 + i), with i = expected annual return ÷ 12. They do not subtract expense ratio unless you open Fund Fees. XIRR is the return to use when dates are irregular; CAGR assumes a single start and end value.
- SIP Calculator — monthly instalments compounded at the rate you type.
- Lumpsum — one amount left to compound: P × (1 + r)t.
- Step-up SIP — annual percentage increase in the instalment.
- SWP — a corpus paying a monthly withdrawal until it cannot.
- XIRR — IRR on dated cash flows (the honest folio return).
- CAGR — (End / Start)1/t − 1 for a buy-and-hold stretch.
- Fund fees — how TER and exit load eat a long SIP.
Loans and reducing-balance EMI
Indian retail loans use a reducing balance. EMI = P × r × (1 + r)n / ((1 + r)n − 1). A flat-rate quote applies interest to the original principal for the whole tenure and looks cheaper than it is — convert it before you compare. Prepayment shows interest saved if you cut EMI or cut tenure; they are not the same.
- Home loan EMI — schedule plus the usual tax-benefit context.
- Car loan EMI — financed amount after down payment.
- Personal loan EMI — unsecured reducing-balance instalment.
- Prepayment — extra principal, new tenure or new EMI.
- Flat vs reducing — convert a dealer quote.
- Eligibility — FOIR-style screen from income, not a sanction.
Income tax, salary and GST
The tax tool places the same income on new-regime and old-regime slabs for FY 2025-26 and FY 2026-27, including rebate where the encoded rules allow it. HRA exemption is the Section 10(13A) three-way minimum. GST backs tax out of an inclusive price or adds it to an exclusive one, then splits CGST/SGST or IGST. Capital gains follows the July 2024 listed-asset changes and indexation only where it still applies.
- Income tax — new vs old regime, FY 2025-26 and FY 2026-27.
- Take-home salary — CTC to monthly in-hand after PF, PT, TDS.
- HRA exemption — min(actual HRA, rent − 10% salary, 50%/40%).
- GST — inclusive / exclusive, CGST+SGST or IGST.
- Capital gains — STCG/LTCG by asset class.
- Advance tax — four instalment dates and 234B/234C.
- Gratuity — Payment of Gratuity Act 15/26, statutory cap.
Notified schemes and deposits
PPF is a 15-year EEE account with a yearly cap. EPF compounds employee and employer shares at the EPFO-notified rate. Sukanya Samriddhi takes deposits until age 15 and matures at 21. SCSS, POMIS and NSC follow their own tenure and payout rules. FD/RD use the compounding frequency you select — quarterly is the usual Indian FD default. Rates are what you type or the last encoded notification; we do not invent a hidden “typical” rate.
Health, maths, tech and dates
BMI = kg / m² (WHO bands; Asian cut-offs noted where relevant). BMR uses Mifflin–St Jeor. Body-fat uses the US Navy tape method. Ideal weight shows Devine, Robinson and Miller together. Area, volume, percentage and unit conversion are school formulae. Epoch and base conversion are developer utilities. Age is a Gregorian date delta; timezones convert among listed offsets including IST. Astrology pages are cultural / educational, not advice.
